Not All Skin Care Products are Made the Same
The average person consumes four pounds of toxins each year through their skin. Much of these toxins come from commercially produces skin care products. Our bodies are basically a big sponge, absorbing the elements around us. I’m sure you wouldn’t consciously eat poison. So, why would you put it on your skin?
To make matters worse, modern industrial methods process seeds into oil by employing hexane, a powerful and nasty solvent that is used along with extreme heat of 450F degrees to fully extract the oils from nuts and seeds. The results are used commercially as the base for skincare lotions, creams and oils. However, trace amounts of hexane are often left in the extracted oil. To make matters worse, the heating process removes the natural micronutrients from the seeds and changes the molecules of the oils to an abnormal configuration–one that happens to be poisonous!
Why add more poisonous agents than we are already absorbing just walking around?
kiwi glow is Sesame Seasoned to Perfection
We start with pure, unrefined, cold-pressed, organic sesame oil is the foundation of our products. This divine oil has been derived from sesame seeds since before recorded history, and is renowned for its healing properties and benefits the body and mind. The ancient Indian practice of Ayurveda uses sesame oil to relieve stress, and continuing research shows that the antioxidants and polyunsaturated fats present in sesame oil contribute to controlling blood pressure.
Sesame oil is a natural antioxidant, as it actually removes harmful toxins from the skin as it’s absorbed. It neutralizes 'oxygen radicals' which are thought to be a major factor in the aging of the skin. How fantastic is that? Sesame oil also has an abundance of natural vitamin E, B-complex and vitamin A, which helps nourish and rejuvenate skin. Along with all this, kiwi glow oils feel so lovely on your skin they are addictive. What more could you ask for in a natural skin moisturizer?
Getting Pressed For a Better Solution
Along with using only organic seeds we cold-press them the old-fashioned way. The downside to this method is that it takes 10x longer, making it more costly and we end up with less oil. The plus side is that the oils retain their natural aroma, and more importantly, their nutritional value, which is the main point of using skin oils in the first place! And, it is so worth the wait. We love it as we are left with nature’s goodness!
A message from Ana, creator of kiwi gloW
I read an article years ago about skin care and the ingredients that go into skin care products. I found that even products that say they are natural may start off that way, but the process used to blend them just burns the natural goodness out of them. I was appalled, as here I was trying to be healthy but I was applying un-natural chemicals to my skin under the impression I was doing it good. After a long, fruitless mission of looking for something natural that didn’t feel awful, smelly and greasy on my skin, I decided to make my own.
I was inspired to research sesame oil based on a trip I had taken to India years before. I had visited an Ayurvedic clinic for an oil bath & massage, and I still remember how wonderful my skin felt for over a week after that experience! It took some time for me to learn the whole curing process, as it’s based on an ancient Ayurvedic method where you remove all the moisture and any bacteria from the raw oil using very low heat and movement. It is long and arduous, but well worth it. It also took a while to master the scents (sesame is a great carrier oil, meaning it takes what you mix it with into the body), so I have been very selective with the fragrances I use.
When you use kiwi glow skin moisturizer, you will find that although it is an oil it does not feel greasy. I believe the reason for this is sesame is one of the few oils where it’s molecules are tiny enough to actually penetrate through the skin. It’s as if nature created this oil specifically for our bodies. The secret is to only use a little at a time, and enjoy the “youthifying” feeling of kiwi glow for yourself!
